We Need Your Help to Save the Lives of Trenton Dogs!

FOR ALL DOG LOVERS!

Since we began our Saving Trenton Dogs program last June, very few dogs have been put down.  The only dogs who lost their lives were "red dogs", considered dangerous to the community.  Despite the order to put down five dogs a week, the collaborative effort of the rescue community kept that outcome from happening.

 

Until now.  On April 18, 2024, Trenton Mayor Reed Gusciora issued an Executive Order reorganizing the administration of Trenton Animal Shelter.  The purpose of this change was to begin killing the shelter dogs to reduce the dog population closer to its 20 dog capacity.

To have a shelter with room for only 20 Trenton dogs is a travesty in and of itself.  But the current overcrowding and the expense associated with it has been ongoing for more than a year, possibly two years.

 

In that time, the City of Trenton has done nothing to address the problem-- no programs, no initiatives, no strategy of outreach to the community or to the rescue organizations.  They terminated all of their volunteers last summer.  

So having taken no other action to address the problem, their solution now is to kill the dogs.

Again, The Crossings Animal Society (CAS), is committed to working saving as many of these dogs as we can.

We need your help to save these dogs.  We will be updating this website within the next few days to tell you how you can help.

our new adoption program

We know how challenging it can sometimes
be to search for a rescue dog or cat.  In our new program, we do the searching for you!

All you have to do is complete an adoption application.  Once your adoption is reviewed




 

and approved, we'll search for just the right dog or cat for your family. We take into account the size, age range, temperament, gender, activity level, and other-pet friendliness of the rescue you want to add to your family forever.  

All the pets we adopt are spayed and neutered, as well as up-to-date on all vaccinations. All are healthy; in cases for which there are health concerns, they are fully disclosed.
